Good news! Paul will join us again for a day of training on Sunday, May 22.
I spoke with Paul about the theme for the class and we discussed kihon happo and the new kanji that Hatsumi Sensei has used to express that recently:
季翻初崩 suggesting sudden and destructive change or turning over a new season leading to a new beginning. As Paul told me, this kihon might not look like kihon!

Paul`s martial art background includes black belts in Karate and Aikido as well as experience in full contact kickboxing. But after introduction to the Bujinkan in the late eighties, he has been single heartedly devoted to the study of the Bujinkan martial tradition.
Paul can also be found in the streets of Yokohama where he is a renowned street performer juggling live chainsaws and riding 10 foot unicycles while juggling fire and knives and other dangerous objects. Check out the web site www.alleykatz.org for more information on his performing.
To further his understanding of his teacher`s movement and philosophy, Paul has also undertaken the study of Japanese Calligraphy or Shodo, Japanese Ink Painting or Suiboku and Japanese Pottery. Recently he work was awarded honors at several exhibitions in the Tokyo area. It is his sincere hope that you may gain some inspiration for your art, training, and life. 真心まされ!
